(Holy crap, I’ve had this sitting as a draft for nearly two months. Anyway!)

On Memorial Day, I returned from a week and a half in Greece with two friends (one of whom was invited to a wedding in Athens, which was the impetus for planning this trip). It was my first time to the country.

We spent about three days each in Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini—so I’m basically an expert about Greece now! Here’s some stuff I learned…

Eating in the Bay Area: Part 1

Drool.

Drool.

Hooray, I’m visiting my sister in California! She’s been living out here for nearly two years—first in San Francisco (in the calf-hating neighborhood of Nob Hill) and now in South Bay. I last visited her in SF shortly after she moved out there, but this is the first time I’m experiencing her life out here in the ‘burbs. (She lives in a house!)

Lima, Peru: I ate yummy stuff

These things were freakin' everywhere

Labor Day: What I’ve learned

Bethany Beach

To commemorate Labor Day, I went down to Delaware with some buddies to my friend’s parents’ house.  It was a great weekend—food-filled and tax-free—where I learned a few things:

1.  Britney Spears is quite tricksy

Three years after the fact, I learned what “If U Seek Amy” means, aka I actually thought about the title.  I felt like a fool.  All this time, I’d wondered, Who is Amy?

2.  “Ookie cookie”

Guys are disgusting.  That is all I have to say.

3.  I really shouldn’t ever eat a Wendy’s Frosty

They contain propylene glycol, a laxative chemical.  Apparently, this is common knowledge.  (Actually, I think all three things I listed are extremely common knowledge.)

Anyway.  Happy Labor Day… and Happy September!

Languages: Pimsleur actually works

Who doesn’t like to travel internationally?  (Statistically, two-thirds of Americans, but whatever.)  The New York Times just published the very handy “10 Paths to a More Fluent Vacation,” which includes suggestions to learn some new phrases or brush up on your college Spanish before your next trip.
